A shared experience creates memories that stick

The Lewes Old Grammar School 500th Anniversary was celebrated with a parade through Lewes (the town is used to shutting its gates to traffic snd should do so more often).

I am struck by the potential value of this as a learning experience, pegging events in history coutesy not only of these banners but the ‘teams’ in period costume across the ages.

That said, come 5th November what does dressing up as Zulus, pirates, Confederate Soldiers, monks, smugglers, First Sorld War Tommies and ‘Red Indians’ say to the next generation of Lewesians?
