This TV series from the 50th anniversary of the First World War must have been transmitted on repeat later in the 1960s – I remember it. I was born late in961.
The opening sequence and a horrible corpse … battleships and male narration as if from a bishop at Church. Sound effects that never quite match and music that itself smacks us around the face with how we are suppose to feel.
Appealing in 1964 …
Very much the statement of those ‘better than you;.
A script that is so full of itself. Shakespearean … poetry … demonstrative and absolute. Unqualified.
Grossly biased, especially where it thinks it is being unbiased.
